1) Describe what you learned about the engineering design process so far.
In only 2 periods of Basic Engineering, i have been blessed with information that engineering is not all about building machines and simple, engineering is the branch of advanced science and math that is putted in real life situation. Engineers do not only build machines, they literally made almost everything/every tools that exist in this world. Not only that, i have also shown that engineering needs process, especially when it comes to complicated engineers, like for example car engineers, plane engineers, etc. 2) Are there any parts of the engineering design process that you still do not understand? Please explain I don't really got that confused with engineering design process, but I want to know how to actually do engineering stuff, in real life, like making something awesome 3) Why do you think engineers always work in teams/groups? Because Habits of Empowerment number 8 teaches us to Team Up for better results... :) They always work in groups because most of engineering projects is big projects, and usually the work is divided into some divisions that works on different areas. Maybe 1 person may be able to do his/her job in one area alone, but the result (usually design) will not be as good as working in groups. 4) Explain what you know about 3D printers Cool, Expensive, and 3D... As far as i know, 3D printers are basically a printer that prints items with some plastic stuff. |

Q&A - 29 August 2017
1) Give an example of how you contributed ideas to improve the quality of your group’s work on your egg drop project so far. I play a quite of a big role in this egg dropping project. I designed the the measurements of the product and also i chose the materials for cushioning inside the box which is by using sponges. There are some problems occurred during the test, we almost got disqualified because our box is bigger than 8 inches, fortunately we manage to succeed by reducing the measurements. 2) Give an example of how you motivated others to achieve the group’s goal in a project you worked on this term. In this project, i raised my group spirits by making it look interesting and very important, so they are also triggered and passionate for this project 3) Were there any errors in your original plan for your egg drop box? How did you fix these errors? The biggest error that occurred is our box is bigger than the requirements which is 8 inches. Our box manage to hit a number of 8.2 inches, and that's where our spirits are down because we need to do it all over again. We fix the error by brainstorming for a pretty good amount of time and find a good solution, which by squeezing the bottom part of the box deeper so the the box's height will be shorter. In the end, we achieve our goal and the box is qualified. 4) How do you think your group has done on the egg drop project so far? What do you think could be improved in Term 2? In my opinion, Jason, Diva, and Yoga did an excellent job in fulfilling their own tasks and contributes an equal amount of work that is very useful to the group. I think what we could do better is to do the planning better so that when we do the testing, everything will go smoothly 5) Is this project harder or easier than you thought it would be? Explain your answer. For me, this project is harder than i thought... i never thought dropping an egg or cutting an infra board would be such a burden to me. To use the tools properly is not that easy, you need to get used to it, especially cutter. |
